The contents of Williams work to a great extent pleased most people but failed to displease some peo ple. For example Shakespeares Richard II according to Queen Elizabeth the unsuccessful revolt against the Queen may have been brought about by some scenes in the play especially ones that showed Richard being deposed (Friedman, William Elizabeth).The works of Shakespeare faced a lot of criticism especially during the 17th and the 18th century.
